RULES AND TERMS OF SERVICE

www.spacebrick.net (hereafter referred to as "Spacebrick") is a free, public messageboard and portfolio system designed to allow people of various interests and talents to showcase their work and discuss it publicly and privately.

Spacebrick allows users to submit information in the form of text and/or images, to be stored and displayed on the site. The act of submitting this information will hereafter be referred to as "uploading" and/or "posting", and the information will hereafter be referred to as "uploads", "posts", "information", "images", and/or "content".

Spacebrick is maintained by a group of moderators and administrators (hereafter referred to as "we" and/or "us"), all of whom are registered and identified on Spacebrick. View the moderator list for contact information for moderators and administrators.

The site rules are as follows:

  • DO NOT UPLOAD OTHER PEOPLE'S INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY TO SPACEBRICK WITHOUT THE AUTHOR'S EXPRESS PERMISSION.
This is a given in any scenario- simply put, don't claim something as your own if it isn't. This includes but is not limited to written property and images- for example, do not post an article in its entirety, and do not upload an image that does not belong to you.
  • PLEASE ATTRIBUTE PROPERTY THAT YOU REFERENCE AND/OR USE IN SOMETHING YOU UPLOAD.
This rule is more specific to Spacebrick in particular- we just want to make sure that any time someone's work makes a contribution to something else that they get credit for it. A modest example is to simply attribute a source of information posted on the site, or to leave a note in an image description attributing the source of elements in that image (assuming you have permission to use them in the first place).
This is not so much a rule as it is a strong suggestion. We just want to avoid stepping on anyone's toes in terms of intellectual property rights.
  • DO NOT FLAME.
Flaming is the act of posting with the specific intention of aggrivating another user or users. Spacebrick is online, and as such offers a certain implied anonymity. However, it is still a community, and we expect users to treat each other in a civilized manner. This bring us to the next rule:
  • PLEASE ACT ON SPACEBRICK AS YOU ACT IN PHYSICALLY LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
The wording of this rule is perhaps a little strange; the gist of it is, don't think you can act like a jerk just because you're online. If you wouldn't say something to someone in person, don't say it to them via Spacebrick.
  • RESPECT LOCAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL LAWS.
I shouldn't even have to say this, but I just want to be clear. Don't use Spacebrick to break the law. If you do something on Spacebrick that breaks a law and this fact comes to our attention, that is definitely breaking the rules on Spacebrick as well and is grounds for immediate banning.

The Terms to which all users must agree before registering with this site are as follows:

  • THE USER WILL OBEY THE SITE RULES.
The site rules and Terms (stated on this page) are subject to change at any time. If the rules and/or Terms change, there will be a public notification in the "news" section. It is the responsibility of the user to take notice of this public posting and continue to abide by the rules.
  • THE USER WILL ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL CONTENT UPLOADED BY SAID USER.
This statement also means that Spacebrick will not be held responsible for the content of any upload.
  • THE USER UNDERSTANDS THAT WE MAY CHANGE SAID USER'S MEMBERSHIP STATUS AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON.
Usually we will only permanently or temporarily ban a user because of bad conduct and/or violated rules, but the owners of Spacebrick reserve the right to do whatever they want with the website (within the restrictions of law), and this includes anything and everything concerning users of the site.
  • THE USER UNDERSTANDS THAT WE MAY CHANGE ANY CONTENT UPLOADED TO SPACEBRICK FOR ANY REASON.
Again, we wish to make it clear that once a user uploads something to Spacebrick, while Spacebrick is not responsible for its content, the content is still on our servers and therefore under our regulation.

In summation, Spacebrick is a free service, and therefore the use of Spacebrick is given as a privalege, not a right.

All potential users must agree to these terms of service by clicking the appropriately labeled checkbox displayed on the registration page before being allowed to register.
